The building that today houses our B&B, built in the early 1800s as a military district for the Bourbon cavalry, is the second largest in the city after the Benedictine Museum
Today it is the Regional Archaeological and Interdisciplinary Museum of the Metropolitan City of Catania, and offers, in some parts, important exhibition areas
Partly owned by the Sicilian Region, and partly owned by BellAqua (the only case in Italy in which a private citizen was able to purchase a portion of a public museum) because it was considered of “particularly important architectural and historical interest”, it is protected from the Superintendency for Cultural and Architectural Heritage of the Municipality of Catania
From here many tourist destinations are easily reachable on foot as, for example, the Metropolitan Cathedral of Sant’Agata, the former Benedictine Monastery, today also a university, a jewel of the late Sicilian baroque, the Pescheria, the Ursino Castle, the Civic Museum
From the Baroque of the palaces of via Etnea to the colors of the city’s historic Pescheria, these and many others are the places to visit
